Pastel Halloween Cookies

Halloween is becoming more fun and varied every year and as my youngest always asks for everything ‘rainbow’, here are some rainbow pastel halloween cookies using some cutters from a Meri Meri set. As my kids couldn’t decide on a flavour I have used a vanilla dough and a chocolate orange dough. The recipes are on my blog x

What you will need:

Edibles:

  • Cookie Dough
  • Royal Icing Powder
  • Gel Food Colours
  • Edible paint or pen

Tools:

  • Icing Bags (I use zip lock bags and clips)
  • Toothpick
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cutters
  • Paintbrush, if using edible paint
  1. Cut out your cookies, dipping your cutter in cornflour or icing sugar in between so they don’t stick, and chill the cookies on a lined baking tray in the fridge for ten minutes while your oven heats up. Bake them as in the recipe and while they are cooling make up some royal icing in two bowls, one a thick toothpaste consistency for the outlines and the other a thinner shampoo consistency for flooding the cookie. Colour and bag the icing. Once the cookies have completely cooled, draw the outlines on the cookies with the thick icing and then fill the area with the thinner icing, using a toothpick to pop any bubbles. if you would like to add some coloured spots on the bottom of the ghosts, use the thicker icing to dot them on. Add two tiny dots of thick white icing on to the bats for eyes and allow to dry.

2. When the cookies are dry, paint or draw the faces on the ghosts and tiny dots on the bats eyes and you have some super cute pastel halloween cookies x
